In the “Solemn” Hall at the UNWE, the world-renowned entrepreneur and expert in the field of sustainability, climate innovation and the green transition, Renat Heuberger, presented his book The Carbon Paradox. The event was organized by SDSN Bulgaria, and coordinated by the University of National and World Economy and PMI Bulgaria Chapter.

The Rector of the UNWE, Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov, opened the event by welcoming the author and pointing out that sustainable development and finding sustainable solutions are among the most discussed topics today. “Sustainable solutions are all around us and one of them is the photovoltaic park that we built at our university. We are constantly faced with challenges that require finding sustainable solutions to overcome pollution from hydrogen emissions. We need efficient solutions, which is why we laucnhed SDSN Bulgaria a few years ago to support sustainable achievements that lead to finding sustainable solutions,” added Prof. Dimitrov.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sc. Michael Musov introduced the author Renat Heuberger as a leading expert in the field of climate finance with decades of experience in managing climate finance since 1999. He is the CEO of Terra Impact Ventures and co-founder of South Pole and the myclimate Foundation, which he transformed from start-ups into engines of effective global climate action.

On behalf of the co-organizers PMI Bulgaria Chapter, Petya Dorovska, Vice President of Professional Development and Academic Cooperation, thanked the UNWE for the hospitality and introduced the audience to the structure and activities of the organization.

Investing in climate action is the way to achieve economic growth in the 21st century. But how do we find sustainable solutions to protect the climate and natural resources so that we can achieve economic prosperity? The answer to this and many other questions that he addresses in his book, Renat Heuberger presented to the audience in a detailed presentation. He pointed out that the main idea behind carbon credits, which are a tool for scaling up climate action and providing additional benefits to local communities, is to receive money for reducing carbon emissions through sustainable projects, paying a price if you continue to pollute. The Carbon Paradox examines the complex interrelationship between economics, politics, and effective climate action, challenging the traditional approach and arguing that true sustainability is achieved not only through policies, but also through leadership, innovation, and individual responsibility.
