SDSN BLACK SEA MEMBERS DISCUSSED STRATEGIC REGIONAL COLLABORATION DURING THE XI GLOBAL BAKU FORUM
The SDSN Black Sea Leadership Council met during the XI Global Baku Forum (GBF), held in the capital of Azerbaijan on 16 March 2024. Representatives from Greece, Türkiye, Bulgaria, Serbia, and Ukraine engaged in discussions about common regional challenges, as well as the network’s strategy for 2024.
SDSN Bulgaria was represented at the forum by its Co-chairman Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mihail Musov. He attended the panel discussions and held talks with a number of high-ranking participants in the forum, including Irina Bokova, Director-General of UNESCO (2009-2017), Petar Stoyanov – President of the Republic of Bulgaria (1997-2002) and Rosen Plevneliev – President of the Republic of Bulgaria (2012-2017). Prof. Musov took also part in the meeting of the management board of the SDSN Black Sea, during which was discussed the working version of the report “A Sustainable Black Sea: How Far Are We?”

About the Global Baku Forum
The Global Baku Forum is an annual event organized by the Azerbaijani government bringing together world leaders to discuss pressing global issues. Under the theme “Fixing the Fractured World,” the 11th edition of the forum featured panels on topics such as the UN’s Summit of the Future, the Israel-Hamas war and its implications for the Middle East, and the enlargement of the EU, but also about climate justice and the expected outcomes of COP29, since Baku will be the host city for the upcoming climate summit. Among the participants and official guests were more than 400 heads of state and government, Nobel laureates, leaders from the public and private sectors, and civil society.
