SDSN Bulgaria participated in the ‘Strengthening access to long-term financing for sustainable development in cities and worldwide’ event in Paris, France
The event took place only a few weeks after the SDSN Bulgaria was officially launched earlier this month.
SDSN Bulgaria took part in ‘Strengthening Access to Long-Term Financing for Sustainable Development in Cities and Worldwide‘, a high-level event hosted by the Mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo, and the City of Paris and organized in partnership with the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN).
This event took place on the 21st of June and was affiliated to the Paris Summit on a New Global Financing Pact aimed to provide important contributions in the run-up to several global finance meetings being held this year, to strengthen international financing for achieving the SDGs in cities and globally. It featured the launch of a new Global Commission for Urban SDG Finance and the release of the 2023 Sustainable Development Report (SDR), which tracks the SDG performance of all UN Member States every year.
Among the keynote speakers were the president of SDSN Prof. Jeffrey Sacks, who officially presented the main results of the 2023 SDR, as well as representatives of governments, local authorities and international organizations such as the UN and the World Bank. SDSN Bulgaria was represented at the forum by its co-chair Prof. Mihael Musov.
We continue to firmly believe that sustainability is a topic concerning all Europeans, and we, as higher educational institutions, should be the driving force towards evolving our societies and reaching the UN SDGs.
