        "rendered": "<p><b id=\"1265008668\">In 2021, the Spanish Government launched the Citizen Assembly for Climate. 100 people selected at random, and who reflect the diversity of Spanish society, have been working to issue a series of recommendations on climate change policies.<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sdsn.bg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/22-07-SDSN-Spain-Citizen-Assembly-People-voting-d4957798-1920w.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-137268\" width=\"834\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sdsn.bg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/22-07-SDSN-Spain-Citizen-Assembly-People-voting-d4957798-1920w.webp 709w, https:\/\/sdsn.bg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/22-07-SDSN-Spain-Citizen-Assembly-People-voting-d4957798-1920w-300x108.webp 300w, https:\/\/sdsn.bg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/22-07-SDSN-Spain-Citizen-Assembly-People-voting-d4957798-1920w-18x6.webp 18w, https:\/\/sdsn.bg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/22-07-SDSN-Spain-Citizen-Assembly-People-voting-d4957798-1920w-255x92.webp 255w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 834px) 100vw, 834px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"1595973176\">Promoted by civil society organizations, some European countries have started to implement&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/europeanclimate.org\/stories\/the-growing-traction-of-climate-citizens-assemblies\/#:~:text=Climate%20assemblies%20are%20increasingly%20being,aspects%20of%20the%20climate%20crisis.\">Climate Assemblies<\/a>&nbsp;with the aim of guiding decision-making on climate policy. With the launch of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/asambleaciudadanadelcambioclimatico.es\/\">Citizen Assembly for Climate<\/a>&nbsp;in October 2021, Spain thus joins France, Scotland, and Ireland in pursuit of more citizen involvement in the climate agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"1047026381\">The coordinating panel includes&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/reds-sdsn.es\/\">SDSN Spain<\/a>&nbsp;(REDS) and the Basque Center for Climate Change (BC3). In addition, the assembly has the participation of a group of independent experts, with support and advisory functions. During this time, the assembly has met in 6 four-hour sessions, one weekend every month. Each one was dedicated, on one hand, to learn about climate change, and, on the other, to the reflections and deliberations that led to the elaboration of and voting on the recommendations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"1823668189\">In these sessions, working groups were formed according to specific areas: consumption, food and land use, work, ecosystems and communities, and health&amp;care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"1622442454\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More information in Spanish is available&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/reds-sdsn.es\/las-recomendaciones-de-100-ciudadanos-y-ciudadanas-espanolas-seleccionadas-aleatoriamente-sobre-como-abordar-el-cambio-climatico\">here<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Video.
